Lorna Dockstader was born in Edmonton Alberta in 1947. Her classes in art
began at the age of twelve when she enrolled in drawing classes at the Edmonton
Art Gallery. She studied art for two years at the University of Alberta and
enrolled in several workshops after moving to Calgary in 1972. Stylistically
and perhaps spiritually Lorna relates to the "neo-Canadian" style of painting.
She especially enjoys plein-air painting. Working in a variety of media including
pastels, acrylics, watercolors and oils helps to keep her interested. She
is a senior signature member of the Federation of Canadian artists SFCA and
a signature member of the Pastel Society of Canada PSC. Her work has been
published in The Best of Canadian Pastels, Pastel Artist International,
International Artist, and Galleries West magazines.
